Dollar Tree Jack-O-Lantern Hanger

Supplies:

*Jack-o-lantern blank(Dollar Tree)

*Paint

*Scrapbook Paper

*Mod Podge

*Paint Brush

*Ribbon/raffia(if you want a bow)

I started off by mixing my two paint colors together. I used Anita’s “Pumpkin Orange”, and Apple Barrel “Tuscan Red” for my paint colors. Next, I painted my pumpkin, leaving the eyes, nose, and mouth unpainted as we will be covering them with scrapbook paper next.

Next I took my scrapbook paper and traced over the eyes, nose, and mouth and then cut the pieces out.

Once I had that done, I took my mod podge and adhered the scrapbook paper to my pumpkin. If you pieces of paper don’t fit the shapes on the pumpkin just right, don’t worry. You can always go back and use a sanding block to sand off the excess paper on the edges.

Next, I used a piece of jute twine to add a hanger to my pumpkin.

To finish off this cutie I simply made a cute little bow by criss-crossing a few different patterns of ribbon and adding some raffia to finish it off.

Diy Succulent Decor

Supplies:

*Square terracotta pot

*White paint-any kind will work

*Bristle paint brush

*Faux succulents

*Sanding block

*Floral Foam

I absolutely love succulent,s but sometimes it’s just easier to use faux succulents for decorating instead of the live ones. I found this cute little terracotta pot on clearance at Hobby Lobby for just a few dollars and instantly new what I was going to do with it.

The first thing I did was take a bristle brush and paint my pot white. Any kind of paint will work for this. I didn’t want my pot to be solid white so I just lightly brushed the paint on. Once my paint had dried, I took my sanding block and distressed it a bit.

Next, I took my floral foam and cut approximately 1/2 inch off so it would fit in my pot.

Once I had my foam in my pot I started sticking in my faux succulent picks. I found these ones at Hobby Lobby but you can find them at several other stores also. I like to start out by putting a taller pick in the middle and then add in the shorter ones to fill in the gaps.

So, what do you think? I think it turned out awesome! The even better part is that it only cost around $10. Creating your own home decor doesn’t have to cost you an arm and a leg! I hope this inspires you to have some fun and create one of your own!

Scrap Wood Fire Crackers

Supplies:

*Scrap Wood

*Red, White, and Blue Paint

*Paint Brush

*Spouncer

*Sanding Block

*Jute Cord/Rope

The first thing I did was paint my two pieces of wood. I used “Ocean” Waverly chalk paint for my blue and “Bright Red” Apple Barrel paint for my red.

Once my paint had dried, I took my spouncer(round sponge brush) and added white polka dots to my blue fire cracker and white stripes to my red fire cracker. If you wanted, you could use painters tape to paint your stripes on also for a more perfected look.

Next, I hot glued two pieces of jute cord on the top for my fuses.

Once my polka dots and stripes were dry, I then took my sanding block and distressed them.

They are super cute just like this but I decided I wanted to add a cute, little bow to mine. I simply just took a few different patterns and thickness of ribbon and criss crossed them. I then take a skinny piece of ribbon or twine and tie it to the center of my bow to gather my ribbon together.

Aren’t these just adorable! The perfect addition to your patriotic decor!

Farmhouse “Home” Sign

Supplies:

*12×15 pallet sign(Wal-Mart)

*Wooden “Home” cutout(Wal-Mart)

*Mini Lamb’s Ear wreath(Hobby Lobby)

*White paint

*Burlap

*Ribbon(if bow is desired)

The first thing I did was add a little white washing to my pallet board. I wanted it to be a little bit brighter so I simply dry brushed it with some white acrylic paint.

Next, I took my Lamb’s Ear wreath that I found at Hobby Lobby and glued that on to my board. I found this mini wreath in the wedding section at Hobby Lobby and it was the perfect fit for this project.

I then took a strip of burlap and glued that down to my board and then glued my “home” onto the burlap to help it stand out against my board.

Now, if you wanted to leave it just like this then you are finished. But…you know me and that I almost always have to add a bow to finish off my projects. So, I added a bow to the top of my hanger to dress it up a bit more. I found this polka-dot burlap ribbon at Hobby Lobby also.

Now do you believe me when I say you can make your own farmhouse decor without having to spend a ton of money? I am in love with this and hope it will inspire you to get creative and make some of your own home decor too!
