DIY Chicken Wire Jewelry Holder

I have wanted to make myself a jewelry holder with chicken wire for quite some time now, but just couldn’t quite decide how or what I wanted to use to make it. I just happened to be strolling through Hobby Lobby and found the frame with chicken wire on it and I knew right away what I was going to transform this into!

The first thing I did was brush my stain onto to the frame. The darker you want it the thicker you will want to apply the stain. I didn’t want mine super dark so once I had my stain applied, I went back with a paper towel and wiped away all of the excess. This also helps it dry quicker!

Once I had my stain wiped off and my frame was mostly dry, I then took my white paint and very lightly dry brushed over my frame. If you have never used this technique don’t panic. All you have to do is dab your paint brush in your white paint and dab off the excess onto a plate or a paper towel. You want very little paint left on your brush when you are dry brushing. Next you will just lightly paint across your surface leaving behind just a little bit of paint. Now, obviously it will depend on your personal preference on how light or heavy you will want to apply your paint. I actually used the same brush I used for the stain to do this step.

Next, I took the hooks I found at Hobby Lobby and glued one on each side of my frame. I thought these would be handy to hang necklaces or bracelets from.

The last thing that I did was add a bow to the top and voila! I absolutely love how this turned out! It was just what I needed to keep my jewelry organized.
