You can never have enough red, white, and blue can you? Do you have extra scrap wood laying around your not sure what to do with? This is the perfect way to use it up. If you don’t have this exact size of boards don’t worry, you can use anything you have on hand. Pallet boards would also work great for this. You can usually always find pallets for free from businesses if you check around.

Supplies needed:
*Scrap wood -I used 1x2x15 boards that I had laying around
*White Paint-I used Apple Barrel from Wal-Mart
*Red Paint-I used Crimson Waverly Chalk Paint from Wal-Mart
*Mod Podge
*Scrapbook paper-I got mine at Hobby Lobby
*Paint Brushes
*Scissors
*Hot Glue Gun-Affiliate Link for my cordless glue gun I use on my videos
*Sanding Block
*Raffia(Optional)
The first thing I did was hot glue my boards together. I used 5 boards but if you wanted a bigger flag you would just add more.
After I had all of the boards glued together I painted the stripes on. You could also paint the boards before gluing them together if you wanted too. I used foam brushes to paint the stripes. I didn’t worry about getting it perfect as I knew Iwas going to distress it. Once the paint was dry I took my sanding block and added some distressing. This step is optional so if you don’t care for the distressed look you can skip this.
Next you will cut a rectangle out of the scrapbook paper to use for the stars on the flag. The size of rectangle will vary depending on the size of flag you are making.
Once you have your desired size for the stars you will then brush some mod podge on the back of the paper and stick it down. I also brushed over the top of my paper with the mod podge to make sure it was sealed down good.
Remember it doesn’t have to be perfect! I love the vintage look of this flag and will definitely enjoy decorating with it for many years to come! To finish it off I bunched up some red and natural colored raffia to make a cute little bow!
