The piece of scrap wood I used for project was approximately 20 inches long and is a tongue and groove style board. I started off by dry brushing some paint onto my board. I didn’t want to fully cover my board so the dry brushing technique works perfectly for this. I didn’t paint the top groove section of the board as we are going to do something with that part next.
Once my board dried I took my jute twine and wrapped it several times around the top of my board leaving just a bit of the natural wood showing. I secured the beginning and end of my twine with hot glue. You could also use a staple gun to secure the twine.
Next, I hot glued the numbers of my zip code to the board. If you plan on using this outdoors you will want to use E6000 to adhere your numbers to your board. I found my letters at Hobby Lobby for $1.39 per pack. I am in love with this piece! What do you think? Easy, cute and versatile so you can use it around your house year round.
